General

On Launch

Today’s Reading opens on what your plans assign for today. Most Recent Passage opens where you last were. Opening the site from the home screen does this; a link or an email goes where it points, whichever is chosen here.

Choosing A Passage

Adds a third step when you choose a passage, so you can pick a verse as well as a book and a chapter. The passage opens with that verse at the top.

Bookmarks

Bookmark one is where a new passage goes. Turn this on to leave bookmarks two and three alone when it changes, so three places stay held until you change them yourself.

Appearance

Scripture

Paragraphs reads like a printed Bible, with verses running together. One verse per line gives each verse its own line. Poetry keeps the line breaks its version sets either way.

Red Letter shows the words of Christ in red. Not every version marks them, and the ones that do differ about where they begin and end.

Applied on top of your browser’s text size rather than replacing it, so a larger size you have set stays larger.

Copying

Copied and shared Scripture carries its reference and version.

Sample

Extol Him, All You Peoples

Extol Him, all you peoples!a

and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.

Highlights & Notes

On The Page

All Notebooks shows every highlight on the page. Current Notebook shows only the notebook new highlights go into. None keeps the page clear: a highlight just made stays visible until you choose another passage.

Notes

On tap keeps the page clear. At the end of the chapter gathers them after the last verse. Under the verse puts each one where you wrote it.

Highlighter

Marker and Fluorescent are brighter; Soft Wash is the quietest. The underline is what makes a highlight carry when its color alone does not.

Automatic draws the underline when your device asks for more contrast, and leaves it off otherwise.

With no underline, a highlight is its color alone — Soft Wash is very faint that way.

Orange Yellow Green Blue Purple

Your Highlights & Notes holds your notebooks, and which one new highlights go into.

Reminders

On the web, reminders are one email a day listing every plan’s reading, at the time you choose. Daily Reading Email

Versions

Reading

Passages open in the ESV unless they name a version. Sign in to choose your own Default Version.

Audio

How many times Listen plays an ESV passage before it stops.

When a chapter has finished playing, the next one starts in the same player, and the bar offers to open its page. Each chapter is streamed as it begins, so this goes on using your connection until you stop it.

Study Tools

Tapping one of these opens the chapter you are reading in that tool, which means telling it which chapter. FerventWord keeps no record of it, and nothing is sent unless you tap.
